New Canine Genetic Testing Service opens in Cambridge
A new canine genetic testing service, Canine Genetic Testing (CAGT) opened for business on November 22nd, 2021. The service, which operates from the Department of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Cambridge, offers a range of DNA tests for painful, blinding or otherwise debilitating inherited canine disorders. The CAGT team is passionate about providing high-quality customer service to offer accurate, breed-relevant, validated DNA tests that can be used to reduce the incidence of disease in breeds at risk. Prior to moving to the University of Cambridge some members of the CAGT team worked in the Genetic Testing Service at the Animal Health Trust, prior to its closure in July 2020, and bring with them considerable expertise in the field of canine genetics and genetic testing.

Can you help with some IVDD research?
Nia Ball is a final year student studying BSc (Hons) Veterinary Nursing at Harper Adams University.
Her final year research project is on intervertebral disc disease (IVDD) in Dachshunds and seeing whether there is a link between weight and recovery time. She is looking for responses from Dachshund owners that fill the below criteria:
•Have a Dachshund that has suffered from IVDD in the thoracolumbar region (thoracic/lumbar)
•The Dachshund has had a hemilaminectomy (back surgery) in the past 3 months or more
The information you provide is completely anonymous. Please answer all questions honestly. Participation is voluntary and by starting the survey, you are consenting to taking part but you can withdraw at any point until submission of responses. I would be very grateful if you could complete my survey linked blow, it should take no more than 10 minutes to complete.
