December 2021 Update

HAPPY NEW YEAR! BONN ANE!
We are so grateful for our Father and for you. May Adonai bless you abundantly this new year in all ways and with great shalom.

With love and gratitude,
ALL of us at Beth Chesed
ENDURING THE STRUGGLES
OF THE CURRENT CONDITIONS
Here in Haiti everything isAt the pump upside down. Gas prices are very expensive. Although there is gas at the stations, it is being bought only in drums and other containers to be sold on the streets for 17 dollars a gallon.
GOING TO THE MARKET
In order to get food, only one person is sent out. They have to make several trips to the market so they do not buy too much at a time. By doing this, it is safer than buying a lot all at once because the people of Haiti are starving and will even kill for food to survive.
SCHOOL DAYS
For the children in Haiti, it is a difficult struggle every day because of the gas problems. If gas cannot be bought on the streets, the children must walk to and from school every day. This makes education very difficult. These children make sacrifices every day in order to get an education.  Their day starts at 4am. They leave by 6:30am to start their 15-mile journey to school. The streets have become increasingly dangerous, so we are very worried about them, especially for the girls.

Although the private school is more expensive than the public school, we prefer to send them to the private school so that they will get a better education. We do have a few students in the public school.

In the private school the students wear a green and white uniform. The public school students wear blue.

EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH
Our employee of the month is AMIDE SYMONVIL. This very kind woman started with us in May of 2013 and is the wash lady for the orphanage. Amide was living in very bad conditions. Her house was made of wood and mud, so every time it would rain, it would rain in the house also. Pictures were taken and sent to Mishkahn David. From there it was decided to help her and now she has a rain free house (pictured below). This mother of three even on her days off comes to work. She says “I can’t stay peacefully resting in my house while I know the children won’t have clean clothes to wear.”

Here at Beth Chesed we love her very much.

STUDENT OF THE MONTH
UTILE STEVE is a 23 year old young man without a mother or father. In 2011, Steve came to the orphanage when he was in 4th grade. He now has completed High School and has been accepted to the University. There he will be studying to become an agricultural engineer/agronomist. Steve will be staying in a nearby dormitory. We will continue to support him until he finishes his education. He extends his thanks to everyone who contributed to his education.

AGAIN, thank you so much for supporting him.

Projects & Prayer Requests
for Beth Chesed Orphanage
  1. Steady monthly donations that match or exceed Beth Chesed's monthly expenses.
  2. A bus so that more of our kids can attend private school next year.
  3. A home for the director's family:  When there are no guests in the orphanage, Director Hernst, his wife Vania, their sweet daughter, Herline, and brand new baby boy Valensky use the space above the kitchen as their living area. Otherwise their living quarters is the area above the office which they outgrew. It is heavy on our hearts that these unselfish vessels finally have a proper home for retreat and refuge.
  4. A way to send our children to university once they complete high school.
Thank you!
However you are led, we thank you for sharing our heart for the work Abba is doing in Haiti! Please share this newsletter with anyone you think might be interested in learning about Haiti and Beth Chesed.
