We envision 2022 bringing exciting new beginnings in the restoration and regeneration of a healthy environment and social justice landscape. Our January Art + Activism Jan. 23 will feature artist Sally Hindman who founded Youth Spirit Artworks. With the help of community and youth YSA has created a Tiny House Village providing shelter and new beginnings for homeless youth.
Sunday Jan. 9 from 2-4 WEAD celebrates the closing of Art on the Edge: From Extraction to Restoration and Regeneration, at The Peninsula Art Museum.
We look forward to collaborating with WEAD members who would like to organize exhibitions and events in regions beyond the SF Bay Area.
In 2022, WEAD plans to rebuild and refresh the web platform for our critical artists directory and archive.
We send great appreciation and gratitude to our creative WEAD members and community.
WEAD honors bell hooks and Mary Beth Edelson, who passed away in 2021. bell hooks' committed writing on gender and race helped push feminism beyond its white, middle-class worldview to include the voices of women of color and working-class women. Mary Beth Edelson’s work in the 1970s raised early awareness for the feminist movement.
