Feliz Año Nuevo familia. This may be a dark hour for this city, this country and the planet but there is still hope. Omicron is currently surging but according to experts it may peak in NYC later this month. The pandemic is starting to feel permanent but we are not powerless. We can get vaccinated, we can wear masks and we can practice social-distancing. We can also continue to support our local businesses and each other. Remember folks, now more than ever, Spread Love It’s The Uptown Way!

On December 26, 1521 the Santo Domingo Slave Revolt kicked off at a sugar plantation owned by Diego Columbus, son of Christopher Columbus. The uprising was ultimately unsuccessful but it marked the first time enslaved Africans would resist en masse against their colonial oppressors.
