Due to the increase of Covid Omnicron, we will meet online only at 11:00am starting January 9, 2022 until further notice.

In Christ's Love,
Pastor Owen Skinner
Loganville First UMC

Dear North Georgia United Methodists,

In light of the very contagious Omicrom variant of COVID-19, we urge you to review your in-person worship and discipleship plans.

Clergy and church leadership, we support you if, because of an increase of cases or low vaccination rates in your area, you feel you need to pause and return to online worship. (Find resources at ngumc.org)

Laity, please remember to be gracious to your pastors as they enter the third calendar year of balancing the tension between keeping everyone safe while advancing the mission of the church. Physical and emotional exhaustion is real among our pastors. They are doing their best.

For churches that are planning on gathering in person for worship, please encourage unvaccinated church and community members to take advantage of online worship opportunities. Please insist on a return to mandatory masks and distancing in buildings as we weather this surge in cases.

We strongly encourage everyone to be familiar with and act on the recommendations of the Georgia Department of Public Health and the CDC. The GDPH is urging Georgians to carefully follow COVID-19 prevention measures. The CDC shares that the best tool available to us is vaccines for those age 5 and older and vaccine plus booster for those 16 and older. Our prayers are with you as we navigate how to share God’s love in the communities we serve in ever-changing circumstances.

Blessings to you,
Bishop Sue Haupert-Johnson
The Appointive Cabinet of the North Georgia Conference
