Dear Friends,

Happy New Year! Thank you so much for your prayers and support as we count down the days to making the big move to Taiwan. This is our January 2022 newsletter.

New Friends

Over the past year, God granted us opportunities to meet new friends in Taiwan. One of these is Henry Huang, who is helping to plant Linkou International Church. In the providence of God, Henry was born in Taiwan but came to the United States when he was ten. Henry discovered in time that Buddhism could not answer his questions about life. In college, he was found by the Lord Jesus Christ and given a burden to reach the people of Taiwan with the gospel. We share this burden in common with Henry and look forward to proclaiming Christ in Taiwan together.

Saying Goodbye

On December 12, our Redeemer Church family bid us farewell with a reception after the morning worship service. We are so grateful for our time at Redeemer, for opportunities to worship and grow together in faith. We are also grateful for the homeschooling families we came to know since moving to Ohio in 2016, and with whom Gloria and the kids were able to get together for a final Christmas party.

Last month we also said goodbye to the house that had been our dwelling place for the past four-plus years. It is hard saying goodbye to the people and places we have come to know and love, but we are grateful God graciously granted us the opportunity to enjoy these and has prepared a heavenly home for us with Christ in the world to come.

Movin’ On

After the movers came we made a mad effort to get the house ready for the new owners and drove to Wisconsin. We rejoiced that David’s sister’s family from Denver was able to join us at David’s parents’ home to welcome in the new year. The cousins loved playing together again.

This Month

Our flight to Taiwan is scheduled for February 1. Upon our arrival in Taiwan, we must quarantine in a hotel room for eleven days. In answer to prayer, we have been enabled to book our quarantine hotel stay and have received word that we will have a place to stay temporarily after quarantine while we look for a longer-term housing solution. Praise the Lord!

How You Can Pray

  1. Pray for good health throughout the month of January and for the divine enablement to make the big move to Taiwan on February 1.
  2. Pray for the continued numerical and spiritual growth of Linkou International Church, as well as for Henry and the other teammates with whom we look forward to serving.
  3. Pray for the spread of the gospel in Taiwan, for the gift of repentance, for hearts prepared to hear the good news of Jesus Christ and receive him by faith.
  4. Pray for students studying in Taiwan seminaries now, for all whom God has appointed to become the pastors of the churches he would have us plant in Taiwan.
Thank you for partnering with us in ministry. May the Lord bless you and yours as we begin this new year and new adventure together!

Love in Christ,
David & Gloria
