Plan to join us on Saturday January 15th for this important meeting. The meeting will be conducted by your board of trustees not the minister. This is your church. An agenda is now being prepared to address some of the vital issues we face.
One of the issues is cash flow. In our October annual meeting the board presented a budget with a 43,000 deficit. That is not sustainable. To address this issue our discussion will include multiple options to include:
- Sale of some portion of our property
- Selling our building and property and finding something else to serve our community’s needs
- Reducing the minister’s commitment to a part-time employee
- Eliminating the minister position and using guest speakers to meet our Sunday morning needs
Nothing is off the table.
Ministry consists of three major areas: music and worship, education, and the building, grounds and facilities. We have been approached by a former member who is looking to establish an endowment to address these three aspects of ministry. This is an exciting possibility for our future, and it will require significant work on our part to demonstrate that we are worthy of an enduring gift. We need to present a vision to be funded. This is not a short-term solution.
The urgency is high. Our “iceberg” is melting. Inaction is not an option. I am encouraged by fact that this congregation has a rich history of stepping up to do the things needed to ensure the success of this ministry. I look forward to being together on Saturday January 15th for this vital meeting.
