Welcome back! I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful holiday season with friends and family. As we return to school, it is important that we continue to follow the COVID protocols we have in place to maintain a safe and healthy school environment.
We have switched our pool testing day from Tuesdays to Mondays. There have also been a few changes made by CDC and MDOE. Students will no longer be considered a close contact when outside or on the bus. We will continue to do contract tracing with any positive pool result. The AOS nurses are looking at the State’s recommendations and will be updating our protocol. Information will be shared as soon as the decisions have been made.
With the cold weather here, we will be following our cold weather protocol for outdoor recess.
In correlation with the other schools in the district and guidance from Mr. Z regarding weather and outside recess, if the weather is less than 10 degrees, with windchill, children will not be going outside for recess.
Children in grades K-3 must be appropriately dressed in order to go outside in cold weather. If the teacher decides a student is not, the student must stay inside. It would be very helpful if you sent an extra set of mittens and an extra hat for your child to store in your child’s locker just in case. Because of COVID, we do not have extra hats and mittens to give out to students this year. There will be an adult to supervise during this time. Grade 4-8 students will all be going outside regardless so they need to be prepared.
This week we will be interviewing for the interim principal position. We expect to have an announcement by the end of next week. We will keep you updated as we have more information.
Should you have any questions or concerns, please call the office, and Renee or Dencie will be sure to pass along your call to the appropriate person. Enjoy the weekend!
Sincerely,
Kelli Clark
Hi Families,
Starting January 3rd, pool testing will be changed to Mondays instead of Tuesdays. The deadline for required immunizations is December 30th. If your child has not had the required immunizations for public schools then they cannot return to school until a doctors note is provided to me with a plan in place to receive the necessary vaccine(s).
Cold weather is here and it’s important to dress appropriately for outside recess. We will be having outside recess, unless the weather is less than 0 degrees, with windchill. Dressing appropriately includes a jacket, pants, hats, mittens and anything else you want to pack to keep your child warm.
As always, keep your child home if they are experiencing cold symptoms and have them tested if appropriate. Anyone who is COVID positive the guidance has changed to a 5 day quarantine. Please let the school nurse know if someone has tested positive using a home test.
Happy New Year!

Cold Weather Cut Off
When the outdoor temperature is ten degrees Fahrenheit or higher and the wind chill factor is ten degrees Fahrenheit or higher, children will play outdoors with adult supervision for an appropriate length of time. The school nurse( this could be different by school) will send out an email to all staff letting them know if they need to remain inside, as reported by ... weather.com… (for your town - Not sure everyone needs to use the same weather site) Parents are aware that they need to send their children adequately clothed during cold weather which includes jackets, pants, hats, mittens/gloves, and boots.
It would be very helpful if you sent an extra set of mittens and an extra hat for your child to store in your child’s locker just in case. Because of COVID, we do not have extra hats and mittens to give out to students this year.
