Sesame Street + Planetarium = FUN!

Elmo and Big Bird live in the United States and Hu Hu Zhu lives far away in China, but they discovered that they still see the same stars at night! The word for star in Chinese is “xīng xing” (pronounced sing sing). How many “xīng xing” do you see in this sky?

Free popcorn, photobooth and giveaways! Doors open at 6:30, film showing at 7 (approximately 30 minutes) followed by winner announcements; photobooth will be available till 8 p.m.

Call for Teaching Artists and Volunteers
Education programs are gearing up for 2022!
We have some great programs in the works and would like to bring in some new faces and ideas to enhance our offerings. There are a variety of options to become involved in our learning community. See the following list or propose your own:
- Arts and crafts teachers (all media considered)
- Adults, children or a mix
- Weekends/weekdays, Second Saturdays, after school, Tuesday or Thursday evenings
- Can be short workshops, weekly meetings, camps (spring/summer vacation)
All ideas considered, class and materials development assistance available. Pay is per contact hour. Choose the age range you are comfortable with, days/times available and length of commitment. We are also seeking volunteers to help out at Second Saturdays and other educational events. Please share with your network, even individuals outside Roswell. For more information, contact Jessica Parham, Museum Educator at 575-500-0352 or j.parham@roswell-nm.gov.

Relocations
Work by Roswell Artist-in-Residence Marie Alarcón
January 15 – February 27, 2022
Artist Lecture and Opening Reception: Friday, January 14, 5:30 - 7 p.m.
Members and children 15 and under free | Non-members welcome with price of admission
Alarcón's work draws on personal and communal experiences of place and its production and the speculative cultural memory of displacement and diaspora. Working with light and shadow, reflection and projection, their materials consist of detritus, with industrial domestic materials treated as textiles, and videos that blur the distinction between the dream and the document. December 2021 – Summer 2022
Donald B. Anderson Gallery
Pictorial artist and illustrator Barbara Latham (1896-1989) was a Roswell Artist-in-Residence (RAiR) 1967-1968. Latham and her husband, fellow artist Howard Cook, helped create what became the RAiR program that continues to this day. The 20 works from the Roswell Museum’s collection displayed here represent only a small amount of output by an artist who spent her entire life employing her artistic skills in documenting the people, places, and things she encountered.
