135 Years of Farming in Montgomery County
Jordan and Paige take pride in being part of a long line of farmers. They are the 6th generation of Jordan's family farming in Montgomery County and owners of a Hoosier Homestead farm that has been in their family since 1886! Thank you as a supporter of Four Seasons Local Market for being a part of this rich history!
Farming in rural Montgomery county has seen its fair share of changes in the last 135 years. Jordan's relatives originally farmed with a team of horses, harvesting corn, grains, and hay by hand and loading it onto wagons. By the early 1900, steam tractors, like the 1906 Case tractor pictured, were introduced but still very rare. As the 20th century progressed, tractors moved from steam, to gasoline, to diesel powered. Although horses are no longer found on Gillenwater Farms, they can be found on the Harvey's property!
Jordan and Paige have a vision of gathering the best of farming practices of the past and blending them with the advances of the future in an attempt to bring better, cleaner food to our customers in a way that is sustainable to the environment. You won't see any horses working on our property any more, but you will see animals eating simple, natural rations that they would have eaten generations ago and vegetables grown just like our grandparents did it. Gillenwater Farms raises both grassfed and grain finished beef, pasture raised pork and vegetables with methods similar to the proven way of the past. We also experiment with new varieties of crops and run machinery on GPS coordinates in our bigger fields. At Gillenwater Farms, we are proud of our past and excited for the things to come. We are so glad to have you as a Four Seasons customer as part of our story!

Farmstead Bakery
We are looking forward to bringing some new and exciting products to Four Seasons this year. These include new breads, bars, and ice creams just to name a few. Give our Banana Blondies a try this week!

We will be slowly restocking ice cream this month. Let us know if there is a certain flavor you would like to see!

This year we will be adding a new addition to the Farmstead Bakery and Four Seasons Families! Kyle and Rachael are excited to share that they will be welcoming a baby boy this summer! This will limit the number of custom orders we are taking for the summer but we will still continue to offer the same great products you've come to expect at Four Seasons.
Eat Local: Recipe of the Month
Each month we will be sharing a recipe that features local ingredients and products available right here at Four Seasons Local Market!
Breakfast Casserole

Butter, for greasing
1/2 loaf of sliced Farmstead Bakery White Bread
1 pound of Gillenwater Farms Pork Sausage of choice
10oz Fair Oaks Farms 4 Year Cheddar Cheese, grated
2 cups half and half
2 tsp. The Olive Twist Garlic Olive Oil (or flavor of choice)
1 tsp dry mustard
1 tsp Himalayan Salt
5 farm fresh eggs from Loreli's Egg Basket or Twister Lane Farms

Cut the bread into 1" cubes and spread on the bottom of a 9" x 13" casserole dish. In a medium skillet, brown the sausage over medium heat until fully cooked and no longer pink. Drain the grease from the sausage and then spread the cooked sausage over the bread. Top with cheese. Stir together the half and half, olive oil, dry mustard, salt and eggs. Pour this mixture over the cheese. Cover the casserole with aluminum foil and refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight.
Preheat the oven to 350F. Remove the foil from the casserole and bake until set and slightly golden, about 50 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow to sit for about 15 minutes before serving.
