2022 Goals
by Mike Kennamer
Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.
Psalm 127:1
As many of you know, I retired from my full-time job at the end of 2021 and may now commit full-time effort to the ministry. This change (and the recommendation of a friend) prompted me to set some measurable goals for 2022 and publish them in a brochure to share with those who care about the ministry. The brochure is available on our homepage. There is a link below the photo of me and my truck.
Goals for the year are broken down into four categories: Communicate, Prepare, Train, and Respond. I'll share one item from each section below.
One goal under Communicate is to share the ministry with 12 churches. This is the most effective way I have found to make key contacts and begin to help churches to prepare to serve their neighbors should a disaster occur.
The Prepare section is the largest section because we expend a lot of energy in preparation mode. We can't schedule disasters but we can schedule training sessions and lay in supplies for the next disaster. Our biggest goal for the year is to upgrade the warehouse inventory system. We are currently using a homegrown system based on Google Sheets. My goal is to secure funding for and implement a warehouse management system that will streamline processes in the warehouse, help us to keep better records, and better steward God's resources.
The Train section involves teaching six training sessions. I already have a good start on this one since I have two training sessions scheduled in January. Let me know if you would like to hold a training session at your church at no cost to your church or the participants.
The final section is Respond, which is at the heart of what we do. Of course, the goal there is to respond to all disasters in the region at the request of local churches.
