Dear Members and Friends of SIRD,
2021 was yet another year full of personal, economic, and cultural challenges. Trying to remain positive and engaged without our usual outlet of live performances, concerts, and parades has certainly not been easy, however, I sincerely hope that you are all keeping well and have been able to remain passionate about 'Sharing the tradition'!
That said, I am extremely proud of what we have achieved during 2021. Our Community has continued to expand, welcoming Canada, Mexico, Spain and Denmark! When and wherever possible we have endeavoured to meet-up, exchange and drum! We put on the 2nd Digital Event, full of new collaborators and content. We were able to produce our regular podcast - SIRDcast and maintained online rehearsals with some fantastic drummers. There have been new composition and educational books written and we launched 'Stickipedia' - our online rudimental drumming library and heritage project!
I am looking forward to a prosperous 2022 full of new opportunities, projects, and events, all of which will be posted across our social media platforms and the SIRD website. Thank you all for your patience, gratitude, and efforts to make our Society a special forum that is truly unique and precious.
