Tonight Arlington City Council is holding a final vote on permitting 3 gas wells at Total’s AC360 site behind the Mother’s Heart daycare center.
The vote tonight shouldn’t be happening and is improper
The city failed to follow its own gas well ordinance in the previous November 30th vote on this permit. The drill zone is close enough to homes that it requires 7 council members to vote to approve the permit under city law. Total only received 5 votes in November, which means the permit application should have died then and we should not be having a final vote tonight.
Liveable Arlington has filed a lawsuit against the city to stop the permit because of the improper November vote.
We can’t let the city get away with this. We need your help in telling city council to vote NO on the gas well permit.
