PROOF OF VACCINATION WILL BE REQUIRED AS OF JANUARY 15 by order of the Salem Board of Health.
At present, Cinema Salem requires masks in all areas of the theater, unless you are eating or drinking in your theater seat. We will gladly give you a mask if you need one. Just ask at the counter.
Starting the year with audience requests
WEST SIDE STORY, C'MON C'MON and RED ROCKET open this Friday, but don't hesitate if they're on your list. We've booked all three for one week only.
And if you want to see these films with only your own friends and family, consider renting a theater. You can also bring a blu-ray of your own. It may not cost as much as you think.
So many of you have asked if we're getting WEST SIDE STORY that it can't need much introduction from us. Word-of-mouth on this remake of the 1961 award-winner has been great, and most critics are loving it too.
"Mr. Spielberg did not waste his time—or ours. The new West Side Story is simply fabulous." Rex Reed, Observer
"It's a classic Spielberg joint, a classic hat-tip to Hollywood, and a classic, period. If this were the only musical of the last decade, it'd still make you feel like a renaissance was in full swing." David Fear, Rolling Stone
Our other two new arrivals may be less well known but are equally intriguing. Joaquin Phoenix stars in C'MON C'MON a delicate and deeply moving story about the connections between adults and children, the past and the future. RED ROCKET, the latest from director Sean Baker (THE FLORIDA PROJECT, TANGERINE), has been called "outrageously fun, savagely smart, brightly satirical, and ultimately haunting."
Before the screening, we'll dive into another great film score. Alan Silvestri's music for BACK TO THE FUTURE put him on the map of Hollywood composers and on the road to a stellar career.
As of January 15, 2022, all indoor entertainment venues in Salem, including movie theaters, will require proof of vaccination, by order of the Salem Board of Health.
