Principal's Reflection

Although we are not yet halfway through the school year, the start of 2022 gives us the opportunity to reset and to look forward. Each of our classrooms is reviewing behavior expectations this week, and we are reviewing school-wide procedures as a whole school. This is a great time of year to do the same at home. We have updated our COVID site plan to reflect the shorter 5-day quarantine period. (LINK) Additionally, we are preparing for the 2022-23 enrollment to open and we are announcing new, expanded 4-year-old preschool options.

Quarantine Change (5 Days)
If a child tests positive for COVID, the child must quarantine for 5 days following the onset of symptoms. If asymptomatic, quarantine for 5 days following the positive test. The child may return to school on the sixth day if s/he wears a mask through the 10th day. Alternatively, children can quarantine for 10 days. (LINK)

4-Year-Old Preschool - New Option in 2022-23
Schedule Options Include:

  • Full-Day (8:05-2:45)
    • 3 Day - Monday, Wednesday, Friday
    • 5 Day - Monday through Friday
  • Half-Day (8:05-11:05)
    • 5 Day - Monday through Friday

About our Program
SJB offers a play-based preschool program that emphasizes pre-academic and social skills while nurturing our Catholic faith. Children learn early literacy and number skills through hands-on projects and activities in an environment that challenges and nurtures them as individuals. Additionally, all students participate in gym, music, library, and art with our specialized teachers. The core academic content will be taught on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Tuesday and Thursday will focus on enrichment and experiences.

Information and Updates

The Auction is Seeking Sponsors!

Would your business or employer consider being an event sponsor in exchange for a variety of promotional opportunities throughout our event? Corporate sponsorship is a great way for companies and organizations to give through a partnership that is mutually beneficial. If you know of someone who may be interested, please consider sharing this letter from Principal Andrew Mulloy along with this graphic, depicting the sponsorship levels available. Or, if you prefer, please contact Nicole Skarda with any leads! Thank you!

GRACE Nurse

Please welcome Mrs. Kim Connelly, RN, BSN to our GRACE team! Kim is a dedicated health care professional with over 20 years of nursing experience including care of children in clinical, camp, and school settings. Kim has her B.S. in Nursing from Marian University and is currently pursuing her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Integrative Health and Healing through the University of Minnesota. Her part-time nurse role for GRACE will be to assist with contact tracing. She may reach out to you to help coordinate return to school dates if your household is sick.

Emergencies and Cancellations

If school needs to be canceled or delayed due to weather or another emergency, communications are handled the following way:If HSSD delays or cancels schools, so will SJB.
  • If Pulaski delays or cancels school, families living in that attendance area will be excused accordingly.
  • In addition to the communication that HSSD shares, SJB will send out a mass email and a text message via our school messaging system. The best way to ensure you receive these messages is to keep your contact information accurate and up to date in PowerSchool.
  • If school is canceled or dismissed early due to weather, all after-school programs, including extended care, will be canceled.
  • If school has a delayed start, morning extended care and morning preschool are canceled.

Fundraisers

Auction Donation Items Needed

Instead of dealing with the hassle of returns, consider donating any unwanted Christmas gifts to the SJB auction! Random items such as candles, lotions, tools, flashlights, socks, throws, towels, mugs, decor, and more can make great auction basket fillers. Only new, unused items, please. And if you haven't brought in your main donation yet, please see this list for ideas by grade. Your donation items are desperately needed now - please don't wait!
Community Opportunities

Attention Men: Exodus 90 Opportunity

Looking for a way to deepen your faith and grow in the community? Exodus 90 is a 90-day spiritual exercise for men based on three pillars: prayer, asceticism (discipline), and fraternity. It will run from January 17th through Easter this year (April 17th.) If you are interested in being a part of this or have any questions, please email Rob Sobieck at rsobieck@sjbh.org or call at 920-434-2145 Ext. 203. We will have our first meeting on Saturday, January 15th at 9:00 am in the Conference Room at the Parish Office. www.exodus90.com.

NDA Youth Night Basketball Game

Make plans to join the Notre Dame Academy Boys Basketball Team for Youth Night THIS Friday, January 7th when they host Bay Port. Varsity game tips off at 7 pm – arrive early to catch the Freshman or JV teams in the Triton Center and Alumni Gym. The Boys Future Triton basketball players will be recognized before the Varsity game.

Stay after the game to get autographs from the Varsity players on their very own basketball cards! The NDA Basketball Team will be collecting gently used sporting goods to donate to Casa Alba.  Donations boxes will be at the entrance to the gym.
