NEWS RELEASE

Snow Updates: City Government Open Wednesday; Trash and Recycling as Scheduled; Community Center as Warming Center

Tuesday, January 4, 2022 -- Updates as of 5:00 p.m.:

City Government Operating Status
City government services, City Hall, the Community Center, and the Mary Riley Styles Public Library buildings are open regular hours on Wednesday, January 5.

The Community Center is also a warming center for those without power. Masks and social distancing are required at all times. It is open until 10pm on Tuesday night.

The leaf collection program is paused for snow removal.

Trash and Recycling Collection as Scheduled on Wednesday
Trash and recycling should be collected on Wednesday as normally scheduled. To receive notice of delays, sign up for the Falls Church Alerts utility outage list and download the Recycle Coach app on your phone.

Snow Routes Lifted
Parking may resume along Snow Emergency Routes. More details online, www.fallschurchva.gov/SnowRoutes.

Clear Sidewalks and Fire Hydrants
Residents and businesses need to clear their sidewalks. Routes to schools should be clear so that students may safely walk to the buildings. Enforcement for businesses has started, per City code.

If residents need help shoveling, call Recreation & Parks at 703-248-5027 (TTY 711) for a list of teens who are available for hire.

Please help your neighbors in case of fire by clearing at least a three foot circle around fire hydrants. This can save firefighters precious time in an emergency.
