Update on Chamber COVID-19 Rapid Test program
Hello Chamber Members,
Effective January 5th, 2022, the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Moncton rapid test program has been put on pause for one week by the Province of New Brunswick. We were advised yesterday that Chambers of Commerce are not to continue distribution of tests effective Wednesday, Jan. 5 until such time as the provincial government clarifies both the new distribution and reporting model for the program and potentially creates new contracts for participating. This is due to changes by NB Health related to new use of PCR and rapid tests during the Omicron phase of the pandemic. We may be authorized by government to relaunch the rapid test program by providing tests to business only for symptomatic workers, but that is still to be determined by government. We anticipate that we will have more information Jan. 11, 2022 or soon after. When we have details we will provide them to all participants of the program.
Thank you for your interest in the Chamber rapid test program to date. Together we have helped to keep case counts lower in workplaces and we hope government will allow us to continue to play a role in this initiative.
