January Digest

Dear Lucy,

New Year, new me! This year my New Years resolution is to start using more of the resources that the Campus provides. What are some of these opportunities?

Sincerely,
Motivated Molly

Hi Motivated Molly,

CofC offers a variety of services to you as a student. In terms of fitness, there are two gyms available to you: George St. Fitness Center and the Johnson & Silcox Gymnasium. Through campus recreation (click here to access their website) students can participate in intramural sports, weightlifting competitions, wellness and health advising, group fitness classes, which include yoga, zumba and cycling, and students are also able to sign up for a variety of outdoor adventures such as kayaking, rock climbing and standup paddleboarding.

In terms of putting your mental health first for the New Year, College of Charleston offers free counseling services to students. We get school can be stressful, and trying to manage school on top of balancing your work life, personal life and social life can only increase that stress. Set up an appointment with Cougar Counseling Services to help you manage stress, anxiety etc.by visiting their website or call  843.953.5640.

Do you want to make a New Years resolution to buckle down on school work and your research project? The College of Charleston also provides graduate students with space to prioritize studies. Accessed via a keypad using a code, the Graduate Study Room 326 is for use by CofC graduate students only. The Graduate Student Association (GSA) distributes the code to CofC graduate students and works with the library to ensure that the room is used responsibly. Find out more about how our GSA supports graduate students here.

I hope this was helpful! Happy New Year!
