WHAT IS A STREET TEAM?
A street team is a group of volunteers who help to promote a book, author, or publisher. It is made up of beta readers, who receive ARCs in exchange for honest, unbias feedback and reviews.
ADVANCED READING/REVIEWING COPIES – ARCS
ARCs are a vital step in the editing process for any quality book. This is when a title is placed on pre-order and finalized manuscripts are given to beta readers.
WHAT DOES A BETA READER DO?
Beta readers receive ARCs, provide their feedback, and publish reviews once a title is published. The feedback they offer can be as simple as their impression of the book they read (i.e. it was engaging and they enjoyed it because it was well-paced) to catching typos and missing or repeated words. Their honesty is not only encouraged, it’s necessary, especially where their reviews are concerned. Their reviews are the word-of-mouth recommendations (or discouragement) to other readers regarding the tale we’ve written.
