Investing in Keeping Longtime Community Members at Home
Read our article to learn from the story of several immigrant families who are navigating eviction notices for a speculative renovation and hope to collaborate with their property owner to be able to stay. Their story illustrates why the City Council of Redwood City must take action to prevent these types of renovation evictions and displacement, to invest in longtime community members' ability to stay in our community.
Action to Demand Anti-Eviction Policies in Redwood City

Speak at Redwood City Council to Call for Systemic Changes
That Will Keep Redwood City Tenants Housed
Redwood City Council Meeting
Monday, January 10 at 6:00 p.m. Over Zoom
Email Nani at nani@faithinactionba.org to RSVP
Over the past seven months, Faith in Action immigrant leaders have partnered with the city, conducting focus groups and workshops to inform the city's Anti-Displacement Strategy. Through this partnership, door knocking, and thousands of phone calls to community members, Faith in Action leaders who are vulnerable to displacement prioritized a set of three critical anti-displacement actions for the city to take. We began circulating this petition to gather community support.

Through the Redwood City organizing committee's collective work, Faith in Action volunteers gathered over 1,000 signatures on our petition, visited nine congregations to speak, talked to hundreds of voters, wrote an op-ed, coordinated with the news media, and met with city staff, the Mayor and the Vice-Mayor.  Unfortunately, currently none of the critical policies in our petition are included in the current draft anti-displacement plan, which is why we must have a strong community presence to encourage the council to take bolder action and do what is right. We need your presence! Join us on January 10th to call for deeper action to address the housing and homelessness crisis in Redwood City, with solutions identified by immigrant tenants who can point to the true root causes of displacement. With stronger policies and implementation, the Redwood City Anti-Displacement Strategy could set a new precedent and tone for other cities in our county to keep families housed.

Please keep Thursday, February 3 at 6:00 pm on your calendar. We hope to meet in person at that time and continue with the San Francisco citywide meetings on the first Thursday of each month.
