We have had some new developments regarding COVID at LAA. Please read the details below carefully so you can make an informed decision how to proceed with your student's schooling this week.
It has come to our attention that we have had a confirmed COVID exposure in our school. One of the students in the 7th-8th grade classroom tested positive this evening for COVID, which means the individual was contagious today and potentially yesterday as well.
We will still continue in-person teaching this week for all who choose to come.
However, because of the amount of families with multiple siblings in our school and how contagious the Omicron variant is, there is a slight chance that this could potentially spread to other classrooms as early as tomorrow. For those that may be concerned, we are offering students in all grades the option to learn from home for the rest of this week.
If you plan to have your student work from home this week, you must contact your student's teacher as soon as possible to let them know. Your student may miss some material tomorrow because students do not have all of their books with them. We also may not have hybrid Zoom classes up and running tomorrow. However, it will be considered an excused absence and work can be made up.
Teachers plan to have Zoom options available for students staying home by Thursday, if not sooner. Please also let them know if your student needs to borrow one of our Chromebooks to do their online learning. The teachers will let you know when books and computers will be available for pickup tomorrow, as well as details for Zoom learning once it is set up.
If there are no more cases by this Sunday, we will return to in-person learning for all students on Monday. If more cases do show up, we will let you know your options at that time.
