Happy New Year and welcome to a new year of collegial learning and fun with AFP-GSFV.
We have planned exceptional programming for 2022 and hope that you’ll take part in events and seminars designed to help move philanthropy and fundraisers to the next level. I want to especially welcome our new members and our new board of directors. I’m in awe of the expertise and experience you bring to our chapter.
Our professional development seminars kick off January 22 – 23 with CFRE Fundamentals and How To Ace the Exam and Ethics and Accountability featuring Linda Lysakowski, ACFRE. This two-day informative session will help prepare you for the CFRE exam.
In addition to our usual programs such as Meet the Funder, NPD, and the Annual Mixer, we’ve added two program series to the schedule. Early in 2022, we’ll devote three-monthly sessions to leadership development. Coach Rebecca Bassin, senior-level fundraiser and International Coaching Federation certified ACC will guide us through modules: Discover Your Inner Leader, Recover More Quickly, and Conflict Management. In September we begin a four-session series on “Fundraising and Faith” led by lecturers from the Lake Institute on Faith & Giving of Indiana University’s Lily Family School of Philanthropy. More information will be forthcoming.
COVID-19 continues to be a factor in our daily lives, so we are cautiously predicting a mix of virtual and in-person gatherings. Locations will be announced with each monthly event.
There are many ways you can get involved in our chapter. Whether you participate in committee roles, the Be the Cause campaign, sponsor a monthly seminar, initiate National Philanthropy Day nominations and sponsorships, or join monthly seminars, there’s a place for you in the GSFV chapter. If you’d like more information or have any questions, please contact me at info@afp-gsfv.org.
I look forward to seeing you and working with you in the year ahead.
Gratefully,
Nancy J. Ackerman, CFRE
2022-2023 President
