Softball Camp

THANK YOU to all our participants in our 1st Annual Softball Camp! We had a great turnout from all across the RGV! We hope our campers learned a few skills today and we hope to see these ladies continue with the sport of softball! January 14th is the first official day of the spring season! We’ll post our schedule soon, but invite you to catch a game this season!

Coach Littleton picks up 100th career win as a head coach! Congratulations!

CTE Academy Expo

On Thursday, December 2, HCISD held their first annual CTE-Academy Expo at the Casa de Amistad. Students from the STEM club highlighted several activities. Brenda Najera (11th) and Bianca Sosa (11th) guided middle school students on a python coding activity with the Raspberry Pi. Mario Vargas (10th) displayed computer disassembling and gaming activities.

Gear Up Field Trip

GEAR UP medical students who are interested in attending UTRGV for their college years visited UTRGV UT Health School of Medicine in Edinburg. Students explored the campus and observed various medical displays.

Tip-O-Tex FFA Show Results

On January 13th and 14th, the Harlingen South FFA competed at the Tip-O-Tex District FFA show in San Benito. Members competed against twelve other FFA chapters for the top title in each livestock division. Registered Heifers: Brahman- John Kibler, 1st place. Beefmaster - McKayla Valdez, 1st place. Breed Champion, Reserve Grand Champion Market Steers: Simbrah- Ryleigh Greer, 1st place. ABC- Gabriella Vega, 2nd place. Market Lambs: Southdown- Kylie Mitchell, 1st place. Breed Champion Fine Wool Cross - Kylie Mitchell, 2nd place. Market Goat: Middle Weight- Kylie Mitchell, 2nd place; Angelina Cuevas, 6th place. Heavy Weight- Kylie Mitchell, 1st place. Reserve Breed, Reserve Grand Champion- Vince Rodriquez, 2nd place. Progress Swine: Duroc - Sara BlackBurn, 2nd place. Hampshire- Emily Espinoza, 2nd place. Yorkshire - Naelynn Jimenez, 2nd place. Dark Cross- Alexandra Trejo, 2nd place. Prospect Swine: Hampshire - Alexandra Trejo, 3rd place.

Hawk Powerlifting

Congratulations goes out to the Hawk powerlifting teams who recently traveled to Weslaco. Both teams placed 2nd. For their next meet, they'll travel to Weslaco East to compete on Friday, January 28th. Go Hawks!

Congratulations!

Congratulations to Izaiah K. Gonzales and Daniel Hernandez who became the first All State Musicians in the history of South since 1984! This is Daniel's 3rd year achieving this great honor as a trombonist. This is a fantastic achievement, so be sure to give these students a high five.

PTSA January Students of the Month

Congratulations to seniors Zoe Reyes and Anjannette Aguado for being selected as January's PTSA Students of the Month! These students excel academically and in extracurricular activities. We wish them the best in all of their future endeavors!

12 Days of Generous Giving

Health Science Theory students collected socks and wrote out Christmas cards to residents of the Harlingen Nursing & Rehabilitation Center as part of their twelve days of Christmas activities.

South One Act

South theatre students have begun rehearsing for their One Act Play in preparation for their first competition on March 4th. Break a leg, Hawks. We're proud of you!
