The Virginia Humanities Conference at VCU 2022 has launched its call for submissions
Submissions are open for the VA Humanities Conference ( March 31-April 1), Plot Points: Data, Humanities and Transformation, co-sponsored by the Humanities Research Center. The deadline for submission through the conference portal is February 22.
The Virginia Humanities Conference invites proposals for presentations, panels, and creative arts that address the transformational possibilities at the intersection of arts and humanities, texts and data, and the digital and computational sciences. Transformation is not a purely data-based process; it’s also about experiences, emotions, and stories. When looking for just solutions to our most critical social issues, humanities and the arts interact with collective data to lead to more equitable choices. WRITING PRODUCTIVITY
The Humanities Research Center is launching The Second Book Writing Group for mid-career faculty.
This writing group provides a supportive and rigorous forum for mid-career faculty to work on second (and third or fourth) monographs. This interdisciplinary book writing group will schedule meetings occurring regularly enough that each member can present work-in-progress once during the semester. Such sessions will offer substantive group discussion of each individual chapter or work-in-progress. Groups may schedule other, optional activities, as desired. Faculty from all schools and colleges at VCU are welcome.
The Humanities Research Center is offering a number of 5×5 Collaborative Grants to encourage faculty in the humanities, humanistic social sciences, natural sciences, and the arts to organize around a topic of common interest. This can include a set of readings, an activity, or just an idea which could lead to future research/projects.

Strategic Priorities Plan Funds, 2021-2022
One VCU Research is committed to improving the human condition through a culture of collaboration that facilitates discovery and creative practice. The One VCU Research Strategic Priorities Plan funds 2021-2022 request for applications outlines the priorities, proposal requirements, deadlines and application processes for each opportunity: VCU Accelerate Fund (Accelerate), VCU Breakthroughs Fund (Breakthroughs), and an expanded VCU Quest Fund (Quest, formerly the Presidential Research Quest Fund). The OVPRI would like to bring these funds to the attention of scholars/researchers in the humanities.
With support from the VCU Office of Research and Innovation and the College of Humanities and Sciences, the Humanities Research Center is pleased to continue supporting travel by VCU faculty in the humanities to present their scholarly findings at major domestic and international conferences.
