from our Blue Blazer Chairman
As I write my first Chairman’s message, I am honored to be able to lead our amazing group of Blue Blazers into 2022 and appreciate Brian Cooper stepping up to be my Vice Chair. Thanks to all of our BBS members that attended the annual meeting last Thursday and a special thanks to Steven Hoover for doing such an amazing job these past two years leading our organization. Gila River Arena was a great venue for the meeting and takes a back seat only to having our event on the Base. We were honored to have base leadership, Col Watkins, 56th Operations Group Commander, speak and it reminds us of why we care so much about the men, women and families at Luke AFB. We are eager to have more “in person” events in 2022, so please get engaged so you can be a part of these special events. As Ron Sites likes to say, “All we ask is for your presence and good things happen!” Also, we have initiated a new Communications Committee being led by Kirsten Hall and Rebecca Timmer. Special thanks to these amazing two ladies “The Wonder Twins” for their continued pursuit to make our organization better. They have successfully engaged leaders from each BBS class to assist with better communication (and maybe a little competitive comradery) within our classes. To kick things off, Steven Underwood of Delta Class has agreed to host the first Happy Hour Hit Squad (HHHS) on February 16th and we challenge any other BBS class to see if they can top the venue and hospitality for the next HHHS. We are limiting attendees so be sure and RSVP quickly and we hope to see you there. The golf tourney is also around the corner, so mark your calendars for May 20th and look for volunteer and fundraising opportunities from our Communications Committee and your class leaders.
