A bunch of tales I wanted to share with you

A tale I heard

Comedian David Earl on what he’s learned working as an actor:

“The fact that you have to overcome your own fear. It's very easy to say no to lots of things. But I've discovered that you have to have a crack at things. You may fail at first, but then you realise that you're not dead and just have another go. I love acting. When you get it right, it's great fun. It's just playing. It also beats digging a ditch, which is what I did with the rest of my life. It's a lot easier than that, I can tell you!”

A tale I saw

Walk With Me by Roger Robinson

A tale I wrote

The most electrifying man in Sports
Entertainment stops to raise an eyebrow,
take the mic to give his rival what for.
He shoots low, easy, a roar from the crowd.

They want to see blood, a precise elbow,
whatever it takes for a one, two, three.
But not yet. He is not ready to go
he must humiliate the guy with ease,

peel back his skin to reveal his guts,
open his heart, stop him before he starts
talking, crumble him down to stuttered buts,
pause, give him some hope then strip him for parts.

The call from Hollywood will come in time.
But right now he is yours and he is mine.

A book of tales I wrote

The lovely folk at Beir Bua Press published my debut poetry collection for children last week. It’s called ‘Elephants Sleep in Bunk Beds’ and you can buy one here.

I’m dead proud of it. Here’s a little preview:
