  • In case you missed the segment last fall, Washington County Judge/Executive Timothy Graves was featured on NBC's Roots Less Traveled. Judge Graves helped a family learn more about their enslaved family's Kentucky roots and their progression to freedom through a monumental court case. Catch the episode, HERE.

    This Friday, February 4th at 6 pm (ET), you can watch Judge Graves on WHAS 11 as he shares another amazing story of Washington County history featured for Black History month. Shout out to our featured storyteller, Judge Graves!
     
  • The Central Kentucky Career and Job Fair Expo was held recently. The job fair was a live recruiting and hiring event geared toward bringing together local job seekers and regional employers. With the recent employment announcements in Hardin and Meade counties, representatives from Kruger and Nucor were also available to speak with job seekers. Click HERE for local coverage. 
     
  • Registration is now open for DLG's 2022 Virtual County Budget Workshop. To register for the Lincoln Trail workshop day on Tuesday, February 8th, click HERE. The Lincoln Trail ADD Hazard Mitigation Update is a wrap! It is off to the State for review.
 
Want a jumpstart on the upcoming funding cycle? - Due to the tornado events in December, federal hazard mitigation funding will soon become available. Contact Mr. John David May about preparing for the Mitigation Action Form (MAF) application in the state's system. 

GRANT OPPORTUNITIES
The FY 2021 Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant Program application period opened on Monday, January 3, at 8 am (ET) and closes on Friday, February 4, at 5 pm (ET). Click HERE to learn more and for upcoming training webinars.

Recreational Trails Program (RTP) and Land & Water Conservation Fund (LWCF)

The Department for Local Government (DLG) is currently accepting applications for funding cycle 2022 for the Recreational Trails Program (RTP) and the Land & Water Conservation Fund (LWCF). Both programs have a minimum of $25,000 and a maximum of $250,000 for projects.

The RTP grant can assist in acquisition of easements, development and/or maintenance of recreational trails and trailhead facilities for both motorized and non-motorized use. The grant requires the applicant to provide a 20% match at minimum and funded through the Federal Highway Administration. This is a Federally funded, matching reimbursement grant program. The deadline to submit applications to DLG is MAY 31, 2022. Click HERE to learn more about the RTP program.

The LWCF program provides federal grant funds to protect important natural areas, acquire land for outdoor recreation and to develop or renovate public outdoor recreation facilities. Examples of public outdoor facilities include campgrounds, picnic areas, sports & playfields, swimming facilities, boating facilities, fishing facilities, trails, natural areas and passive parks. The grant requires a 50/50 match and funded through the National Park Service. It is a matching reimbursement program. The deadline to submit applications to DLG is May 31, 2022.
