The /allow Command
Complete control over who can access your room
We take privacy and security very seriously, so we have gone the extra step to give you complete control as to when a user can access your data. With Streamer’s™ /allow command, you decide who can access your room, when they can do that, and for how long. Note that you need to be an owner of the room to use the /allow command.
User Tip: Combine the Group feature with the /allow command. That way a single /allow command gives or removes access to your room(s) for an entire group of users.
Let’s step through the command in three stages: simple, advanced, and elite.

Making it Simple

To control which users can access one of your rooms, from your Lobby click on the room to enter it. Then do one or more of the following:
  • To grant access to a user, in the command bar type /allow @user where user is the name of the person’s account.
  • To remove access, type /unallow @user
  • And to see who has access to the room, type /allowed

Advanced Features

As with all commands, the items in square brackets are optional. In addition to specifying the user account, you can enter the name of the room and set the number of minutes in which access is granted. The expires feature is really nice if you just want to give someone permission to use the room during a meeting, or perhaps for the rest of the day. Here are three examples:
  • /allow @Chris #Avanti-1  This command gives the account Chris access to room Avanti-1
  • /allow @Chris expires=45  This command gives Chris access to the current room for the next 45 minutes. After the time period expires, Chris can no longer access the room.
  • /allow @Chris #Avanti-1 expires=600   This command gives Chris access to the room Avanti-1 for the next 10 hours. After the time period expires, Chris can no longer access the room.

Elite Features

As promised, here is a very powerful set of features that give you complete control over when users can access your rooms. It is all part of making sure your data is private and secure. With the optional schedule feature you can choose the exact time access is granted. There are three parts to the schedule feature: hours, days, and dates. Let’s step through each of these:
  • Hours of the day [HH:MM-HH:MM, all]:  This designates the time of day in which the user can access the room. This time is in your local time zone, and it is entered using a 24-hour clock. For example, to give someone access to the room from 8:15AM to 5:00PM, enter [08:15-17:00]. If you want to give someone access for the entire day, simply use [all].
  • Days of the Week  [MoTuWeThFrSaSu, all]:  This designates the days of the week they can access your room. For example, to give someone access only during the work week, enter [MoTuWeThFr]. To give someone access for every day of the week, you can simply use [all].
  • Dates of the Year  [DaMoYr-DaMoYr, all]:  Here you can select the calendar dates of when they can access the room, with a start and stop date. Each entry is a two-digit number. Note that the format is DayMonthYear. For example, to give someone access from June 3, 2022 to December 14, 2023, you will enter [030622-141223]. To give someone access for all dates, simply use [all].

Here are some examples of how to use the schedule feature:
  • /allow @Chris schedule=all,MoWe,all      This command gives the account Chris access to the current room every Monday and Wednesday. Chris will not have access to the room during any other times.
  • /allow @Chris schedule=09:15-13:00,SaSu,010122-311222     This gives Chris access to the room from 9:15 AM to 1 PM on weekends (Saturday and Sunday). This access starts on January 1, 2022 and ends on December 31, 2022.
  • /allow @Chris schedule=08:15-09:00,MoTuWeThFr,010922-010723 #Avanti-1     This gives Chris access to room Avanti-1 from 8:15 to 9 AM every day of the work week (Monday through Friday). This access starts on September 1, 2022 and ends on July 1, 2023.

Additional Important Notes
  1. /allow commands are cumulative. For example, if you enter a command giving an account access on Tuesday from 8:00 to 9:00, and then enter a second command giving them access on Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00, they will have access for both of these time periods.
  2. Entering the /unallow @user command removes all the time-related access settings for that user. With this command, they no longer have any access.
  3. Entering /allow @user also removes all the time-related access settings for that user. If you enter this command, they now have access at all times.
