Dear Friends, Family and Partners,
We are on mission to call every grad student and every faculty to follow Jesus as whole life disciples who bring the good news of the kingdom in and through everything they say and do. As I reflect on the last year, I am encouraged by the ways students and faculty have lived into this mission on campus.
I think of M, who is using his voice and position of privilege to bring structural change in the Math Department at UB in order to give those who are affected by decisions a seat at the table where the decisions are made. I think of Dr. D. who continues to embody and share the gospel to his students. I am encouraged by K who has matured as a faithful witness at the medical school. K is learning how God's desire for health and healing aligns with God's desires for creation. This reorients his approach to healthcare as a profession and has encouraged him to more boldly share his faith with his peers and students.
I am encouraged by what God has done in Upstate NY in this last year. A year ago today, I hired Eric to full-time ministry at the University of Rochester. In the last year, God opened doors for him to plant a faculty fellowship that quickly grew into a multi-campus, city-wide fellowship of more than 20 faculty. Praise God!
While COVID has continued to present a host of challenges this year, I am thankful for the 50 students and more than 30 faculty who have gathered to pray, read the scriptures together and love their neighbor through intentional acts of service and generosity.
Thank you for your generous, sacrificial and prayerful partnership in the gospel. Your partnership is what sustains us for this mission. I am so thankful to God each of you.
