Chautauquau Crab Cakes
Apres Ski Stew
Salad of Oranges and Onion
Lemonade Pie with Blueberry Sauce

Some adjustments to the dinner format were made for safety with Covid concerns. There was no movement from house to house - appetizers, main course and dessert were all held in one place. The food was delicious; the conversations were wonderful; everyone was safe. It was great to be together again!

As far as the future, we are intending to again gather safely together in March. Hopefully, participants will have received both vaccines and a booster to add to the safety of gathering together. Details will be forthcoming. Be on alert for e-mails, and please think about participating in planning, hostessing, editing, and taking care of details.

New members are always welcome, and we do always have a good time.

Contact Gayle Rainey or Vicki Moran for any additional information.
TAKING ACTION
You'll Want to Hear This Woman Speak!

Faith Winter, Colorado Senator, should be an AAUW member.
Senator Winter is the keynote speaker at Public Policy Day, February 5.

Her stellar list of sponsored and supported bills mirrors AAUW's Public Policy Priorities perfectly.

Equal Pay for Equal Work - YES
Paid Family and Medical Leave - YES
Improving education and teacher pay - YES
Equity in the workplace through the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act - YES

She's worked on affordable housing. She served on a national project to increase female representation in business, politics, and institutions.

This year, she's sponsoring a bill on harassment in the workplace, and one to remove the discriminatory tax on diapers and menstrual products.

TAKE ACTION: Don't miss your opportunity to hear this energetic, effective woman speak at Public Policy Day.  And let's encourage her to join AAUW!

The registration link is at the top of newsletter, with information on the rest of the PPDay schedule.
THANK YOU to the cooks, bakers, and bidders who participated in the Food Auction that was part of the International Dinner on January 29.  Through the efforts of 74 bids and over 20 bidders, we raised over $500 to support our upcoming programs.

Still Staying Connected

The Delta Kappa Gamma Society (DKG) promotes the professional and personal growth of women in education. This worldwide society has common interests with AAUW in educational excellence for women.

For the past 21 years Longmont’s DKG and AAUW have connected with joint meetings that have been stimulating and engaging. The first 2001 joint meeting was the idea of DKG president Aileen Solt who was also a member of AAUW and Phi Delta Kappa, and that first meeting of these three organizations was a breakfast on February 10, 2001. It was held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with guest speaker, Dr. Dick Weber, Superintendent of St.Vrain Valley School District, whose topic was "Evolution and the State of Education in the United States Today." Seventy (70) women were in attendance. Phi Delta Kappa eventually disbanded, but the other two organizations have continued this brunch in February ever since.

As a proud 41 year member of DKG and an 18 year AAUW member, I am so pleased that these mission driven women's organizations are making a difference in Longmont and in the world. Positive personal and professional experiences, plus friendships that last a lifetime have evolved from these memberships.

Ironically the speaker at the 21st joint brunch will be another St. Vrain Valley superintendent, Dr. Don Haddad, whose topic is: "Education in the St. Vrain Valley." A challenge for 2022:  let's have 70 or more members present on February 12, at 9:00 am to celebrate this anniversary. And I am hopeful that 3 or 4 original presidents from 2001 can join us, as well as Kathy Flynn, who found the minutes of that 2001 meeting. Kathy was a president of DKG, and a 20 plus year member of AAUW and was a wealth of information about the first brunch.
UPCOMING COLLECTION FOR FRCC'S FOOD PANTRY
