Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!
With tremendous support from the community, we met our goal of raising $1.5M by January 2, 2022! In fact, we have now raised $35,000 beyond our goal. This is very good news. It will enable us to acquire the final 21 acres critical to creating the Little Badger Mountain Preserve and Trail and to address additional expenses that we encountered. We expect to finalize the purchase in February.
As discussed earlier, we have to reroute the final section of our trail system that connects the Badger Mountain Preserve to Queensgate Dr. This will require further land surveys, legal expenses for new easements, and a more complicated trail design. Donations that exceeded our original goal will help us offset these unforeseen costs. We will begin the trail work after completing the design, obtaining the necessary permits and easements, and when ground conditions become favorable.
The first section of the trail will wind its way through stunning stands of mature sagebrush. You will be so pleased. The preserve overall will expand open space access to thousands of residents who live nearby.
We are a very generous community. You have helped us create the Badger Mountain and Candy Mountain Preserves, nearly 900 acres of open space and 10 miles of trails. Supporters like you -- long term or new, living near or far -- made this possible. We hope you are proud.
Let’s Celebrate! We have rescheduled our Annual Meeting and Celebration for Saturday, May 7th, at the Richland Community Center, 5:00 – 7:00 pm. We hope it will be safe to meet. However, because of Covid, this date is subject to change. There will also be other special events in appreciation of your generosity. We will keep you posted.
Business or individuals who give $1000 or more by February 28, 2022, will continue to be eligible for acknowledgement inscribed in trailhead monuments. To give, click here:
