Caution urged as easing of restrictions announced

From 27 January Plan B restrictions will end. But our cases are still higher than last January's peak and hospitalisations are still high too.

Although the Plan B restrictions are able to be relaxed, we still need to keep ourselves protected. So please get vaccinated and boosted, and think carefully when mixing in work settings and with friends and family. We know Omicron is very sociable and transmissible and it loves to spread in these environments.

So just because we can work in work settings and we can socialise more, it's still important to remember it's still very, very easy to bump into Covid

Young people can just drop in at:

Help protect our essential workers

Get vaccinated and take precautions to help prtect our essential workers

People are being urged to help protect essential workers and frontline staff by getting jabbed and taking precautions to minimise the spread of Covid.

Transmission of the Omicron variant is already having a huge impact on many of Cornwall’s vital services and infrastructure.

Covid doesn’t just affect you and your health – it can also cause huge disruption to everyone’s lives. You never know who you might spread it to. The more the virus is allowed to circulate, the more likely it is that teachers will be unable to teach, bus drivers will be unable to drive, nurses will be unable to work... the list goes on

Free online mental health training

A new online mental health training package is now available for all working people across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly to help them cope with the ongoing stresses and strains of the pandemic.

Whether you've been working on the front line dealing directly with Covid every day, or working from home and coping with the isolation that brings, the pandemic has impacted every working person's mental health to a greater or lesser degree.

Which is why Public Health Cornwall and NHS Kernow have jointly commissioned an exciting new mental health training package for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Developed and hosted by the Sound Doctor, the package includes three modules covering psychological first aid, mental health awareness and trauma informed training.

You can use the training to help you with your own wellbeing. Or you can use it to give you the confidence and skills to support others, helping to create a more trauma informed and supportive environment in the workplace.

There's still time to take part in the Creative Census

Do you work within the Creative Industries in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly? Or do you earn extra income through a creative passion alongside your day job? If so, we need to hear from you.

By taking part in this Creative Census you'll help us get to know your business better. We want to understand how to support the sector to flourish and what barriers you are facing. The data will help us speak up for our creative industries’ freelancers, businesses and organisations.

Cornwall is also bidding to become UK City of Culture 2025 and we're one of the long listed locations. Having high-quality data from this census is essential. It will helps us underpin both why Cornwall needs the City of Culture award, and why we deserve it!

So, if you work in a museum or art gallery, you’re a photographer, musician, film maker, theatre technician, architect, part-time crafter, writer or game designer, help us to help you by taking part!
