Our Open For Business cohort has moved into their Crucible studio space to begin working on their product lines. Not only do they have a number of Crucible faculty acting as their mentors, they also have a dedicated Open For Business Entrepreneur Incubator Program Manager—David Banks!

David was drawn to the position not only as someone with nonprofit experience but also as a former small business owner. He is a passionate supporter of local artists and is especially excited about the program’s ability to create community, provide dedicated studio space, offer skill-building opportunities, and access capital through our SFMade partnership.
“There is often a lack of resources for BIPOC makers who might not have access to facilities like The Crucible. I was interested in working to bridge that gap. OFB creates a safe and welcoming space to learn new skills and scale their businesses.”
- David Banks

There are lots of offerings to pick from for students as young as 8 all the way up to 18. Students can put physics into practice in Youth Gravity Cars, create one-of-a-kind sculptures in Youth Clay Critters, and build their very own transportation in Youth Skateboard Building

Want to narrow your search? Easily break down our camp offerings by date, age, department, or level. Finding the right camp is just a few clicks away! But don’t wait too long to save your camper’s seat, spots will be gone before you know it!

SAVE A SPOT AT 2022 CAMPS

All students ages 12 and up must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination before class. Everyone must wear masks inside The Crucible regardless of vaccination status. Review our health and safety policies for complete information.

In the coming year, we look forward to providing access to all interested in learning the industrial arts. We are pleased to announce that, in support of our mission, Oakland-based metal fabrication company Moz Designs has donated $5,000.

Having support from organizations like Moz is crucial in fulfilling our mission and opening pathways to careers in the skilled trades. This is the second year in which they have supported our nonprofit with a $5,000 gift. Thank you, Moz, for your continued support!
