As part ofThe Justice in Southeast Asia Lab (JSEALab)'s events, there will be a series of lectures by different lecturers about various topics. This upcoming week features "Land Reform amidst Legal Debris: Learning Risky Rights in Myanmar" by Dr. Hilary Olivia Faxon of UC-Berkeley.
The Justice in Southeast Asia Lab (JSEALab) is a combination of intensive exchange between faculty and graduate students and public-facing events to amplify the impact of the Henry Luce Foundation-funded five-year initiative on Social Justice in Southeast Asia at the University of Wisconsin. The JSEALab includes a web translation series; an online reading group; an online lecture series; and many other activities.
French 391: "French for Reading Knowledge:" Spring 2022
If you are a graduate student who needs to fulfill the UW Graduate School's requirement to demonstrate reading knowledge in a foreign language, or an undergraduate with sophomore standing who plans to go to graduate school, this course is made for you! Reading knowledge of French is highly valuable for research in many fields. This is a lively course with plenty of student interaction, and lots of individual guidance from the instructor. [It will also help you to understand how to avoid confusing terms like "poison" and "poisson" in French--always important!]

The 2022 Ministry of Education(MOE) Taiwan Scholarship and Huayu Enrichment Scholarship are now accepting applications through the end of March 2022. The Huayu Enrichment Scholarship is offered to non-Chinese heritage U.S. students who are interested in studying Mandarin in Taiwan. The Taiwan Scholarship is offered to non-Chinese heritage U.S. citizens who wish to pursue a degree in Taiwan.
The Wolff Fellows program provides an award of approximately $45,000 to an outstanding graduating senior for a year-long travel, service or study-abroad experience. Letters & Science graduates will be empowered to take on a year of travel and service as part of a new fellowship opportunity, made possible by a generous gift from Paul Martin Wolff and Rhea S. Schwartz, Eligible May 2022 graduating seniors must demonstrate not only a proven record of service to the University and community but also outstanding academic performance.

TCSOL (Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages) Workshop
Teaching Chinese at Upper-Levels: Philological Knowledge and Teaching Skills
Selecting robust input (texts) to fulfill learners' needs and facilitate language acquisition might be a question for many language teachers. This workshop offers guidance to this question. Prof. Lening Liu (the speaker) will focus on Chinese teachers who teach at upper levels (3rd year and above) and provide insights into their teaching practice.
About the speaker:
Pro. Lening Liu has been teaching the Chinese language, Chinese linguistics, and pedagogy at Columbia University since 1995. He is a Professor of East Asian Languages and Cultures, Director of the Chinese Language Program of the university, and an instructor of the TCSOL program at CIFLTE.
LankaCorps is a unique program for young professionals of Sri Lankan heritage living outside the country to engage in social, cultural, and economic development activities in Sri Lanka. Each year, The Asia Foundation selects an outstanding group of individuals to live and work in Sri Lanka for six months (June to December, including orientation period) as LankaCorps Fellows, allowing them to “explore their roots while giving back."
The fellowship provides a travel stipend to cover roundtrip international airfare; in-country expenses, including a monthly stipend; and health insurance coverage for the duration of the program.

The Administrative Transformation Program (ATP) is seeking two Change Management Specialists to bring their communications, engagement, and outreach savvy to this exciting Systemwide initiative.
The Change Management Specialists will serve ATP’s Human Resources or Finance Strategy Team to support stakeholder comms and engagement planning and execution. Each position has slightly different job responsibilities; read the PVLs (512054 and 512052) and apply at jobs.wisc.edu.
The program places undergraduate and graduate students in paid summer internships at theDepartments of Commerce and Transportation to inspire and bring young talent from diverse backgrounds into public service.
Participants will also receive professional development training and networking opportunities to foster their leadership skills and gain a better understanding of working in the federal government.
Participate in the G2U (Government to University Initiative) Virtual Career Fair! This event will be held on Thursday, January 27 2022. There are currently 59 federal agencies participating and over 1200 signed up so far.
The all-campus Spring Career & Internship Fair will again be a three-day event (Feb. 16-18) with both in-person and virtual options for UW-Madison students of all majors to connect with a wide range of employers to find full-time jobs and internships.
