Happy New Year from the MetroWest Solar + Clean Heat Challenge!

The municipal partners are excited to announce the program has been extended until March 31, 2022! We have been thrilled by residents’ participation, and are happy to be able to extend the program.

It’s great timing for an extension because, in 2022, we expect additional incentives for air-source and ground-source heat pump technologies to become available through the Mass Save Program. The Department of Public Utilities is scheduled to finalize the details of that program by the end of January and we will update our website when the incentives are approved.

If you remain interested in the program, but haven’t scheduled your no-cost home assessment, now is the time!

If you remain interested and already completed a no-cost assessment, we encourage you to reach out to the installer(s) you have been working with. They should be able to provide you with updates on changes to costs, equipment availability, and Mass Save incentives that may have occurred since your last communication.

Should you have any questions or need help locating contact information for each of the installers, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the municipal team at metrowestcleanenergy@gmail.com.

Thank you for your interest in clean energy!

Program Results

Since we launched in June 2021, nearly 600 residents and small businesses across Ashland, Framingham, Holliston and Natick requested no-cost assessments for solar PV, air-source heat pumps, and geothermal. Way to go!

Contracts for clean energy technology continue to roll in and we are having conversations with builders about integration opportunities with new construction. So far, we’ve seen 56 contracts for solar, 51 for air-source heat pumps and 9 for ground-source heat pumps (geothermal).

Installs are ongoing, with the majority of solar projects planned for installation in the first three months of 2022.
