This month, we take a dive into the past and explore the history of “Sawing a Person in Half” with one of the world’s foremost collectors and historians, Mike Caveney. Mike is the natural enemy of inexpensive bookcases, having published a string of gorgeous and enlightening, yet weighty tomes. In addition to his publishing endeavors, Mike is an accomplished comedy magician, having performed around the world.
We saw Mike last on Zoom revealing the mysteries of Egyptian Hall. Since then, he has completed the latest in a string of magna opera, One Hundred Years of Sawing: The History of Magic’s Most Iconic Illusion. This (again gorgeous and weighty) book is exactly what the title says and was completed to coincide perfectly with the hundredth anniversary of the trick’s first public performance.
Mike will also be discussing the latest in his long running series of Classic Correspondence From Egyptian Hall Museum.
We look forward to seeing you all on Zoom for what is sure to be a fun and informative evening.
If you are a Hat & Rabbit member, you will be emailed a direct link to the lecture on the day of the event.
If you’re not yet a member, it’s not too late to join for a full 12 month membership ahead of Thusday's lecture!
