We are excited to announce the Spring 2022 department production will be...  
Hamlet, adapted and directed by HTD Chair, Gregory Mosher. Read below for more information and how to get involved! 

Don't forget to get your  booster vaccine as soon as you are eligible. If you need to get tested, CUNY students, faculty, and staff are able to walk-in at any CUNY Testing Site for any reason to get a COVID test. 
Announcing Department Production of Hamlet 
In spring 2022, the department will mount a production of William Shakespeare's Hamlet, adapted and directed by Gregory Mosher. The production, which will feature multiple actors sharing the title role, will be staged in the Loewe Theatre from April 4th-9th, 2022 in a 3/4 thrust staging with minimal set, direct audience address, and contemporary costumes. 

The production process will involve students in a variety of leadership and assistant positions. Each design and production area will have a faculty leader, who will review applications and select the level of student mentorship according to the applicant pool for their particular area. Each faculty leader will provide a short role description by Friday, January 21, look out for descriptions on our website. Students must apply for the positions by Friday, February 4th.

Note: Gregory will be accepting applications for directing assistants starting now, so if you are interested, please contact him immediately gm1125@hunter.cuny.edu. 

Auditions and Callbacks times are TBD but will take place the weeks of January 31 and February 7.
Rehearsals begin February 14th.
Performances will be 
April 4th-9th.

Note: Any and all students interested in acting in this project must agree to hold M-Th 5:30-9:30PM free for rehearsals, along with additional tech, rehearsal, and performance dates/hours (please be in touch with Brad Krumholz if you have any questions regarding this requirement: bkrumhol@hunter.cuny.edu).

Join a Playwriting Workshop With HTC!
Want to be part of the HTC Playwrights Festival but need some help getting inspired? Join HTC this Sunday, January 23rd from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM EST for a playwriting workshop. The group will spend time responding to playwriting prompts to fuel you creatively. HTC will lead you in exercises where you can use this time to create new ideas for plays or continue working on pieces you've already started! If you're interested in submitting a play to HTC's Playwrights Festival - this can also be a great place to begin exploring!

No playwriting experience is necessary!

Already Have something to submit for the festival? Submit your work on the link below by February 4th!

Announcing HTC's Winter Show:
chipotle chips and peanut butter brittle: A Devised Play
The Hunter Theatre Company presents chipotle chips and peanut butter brittle: A Devised Play. This performance will be held in-person at Hunter College in Hunter North 537. 

Once you RSVP, you will receive more information regarding HTC's COVID-19 safety procedures including a health questionnaire and steps for clearance to enter Hunter's campus for the performance. Please note: you must be fully vaccinated to attend this event. 
 
About the play:
With an epic prank and their beloved theatre bringing them together, what will it take for a friend group to rekindle the flame that once brought their ensemble life? This piece was created in from start to finish in four weeks by the ensemble members in collaboration, and will be presented as a staged reading

About:
Oye Group is a Latino founded Nonprofit Arts Organization, an Incubator for artists local & immigrant to NYC. They provide arts education workshops for all ages. 
Internship Description:
Overall remote support to all departments (Admin, Education, Development, and Marketing) with different company programs, projects, organizational and creative including but not limited to:
  • Assisting with social media management
  • Taking notes during meetings
  • Collecting and organizing company receipts research
  • Creating documents and spreadsheets to track projects
  • Cleaning/organizing office and storage space. 
Interns will focus on tasks for Oye's spring season’s educational programming and collaboration projects with local artists.

Duration: March - June 2022
Estimated weekly hours: 6-8 hours
Pay rate: $20/hr through the department Loewe Internship Award

Apply to Join the 2022-23 New Victory LabWorks Artist Cohort!
New Victory LabWorks is for artists who identify as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) creating original work for kids and families. As an artistic home for artists of all disciplines, New Victory LabWorks explores, devises and reimagines what theater for families can be.
Program Requirements:
-Artist(s) must have a primary residence in NYC and be available to participate between August 2022 and July 2023.
-Artist(s) must identify as Black, Indigenous or a Person of Color.
-Artist(s) must be 18 years of age or older.
-Artist’s work must be intended for family audiences (artist does not need prior experience in creating work suitable for families).
-Artist’s project(s) must be in development, but may be at any point during development, including initial concept.
-Pending the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions, Artist(s) must be able to attend monthly meetings in Manhattan.
-Artist(s) must be interested in actively participating in all aspects of the New Victory LabWorks program, including professional development, monthly meetings with the 2022-23 LabWorks cohort, peer-based exchange and peer and/or audience feedback.
