In this newsletter we have a spread of suggestions for what you might enjoy with your haggis, neeps & tatties on the 25th - whisky, of course, but we're also recommending a couple of beers and even a trio of wines.
We also have news of two limited edition whiskies that will shortly be available. The first of these is Daftmill Summer 2010 (£100, 70cl/46%), which is going on sale in our Bath Street shop this afternoon, and online shortly therefter.
The second is the inaugural release of malt from Lochlea. We were lucky enough to visit the distillery last autumn and to taste a range of spirit samples, and are very much looking forward to the launch. Lochlea First Release (£50, 70cl/46%) will go on sale on Tuesday 25th January.

WHISKY
King's Inch (£46, 70cl/46%)
From an unnamed Glasgow distillery, this easy going youthful malt is a sure fire crowd pleaser, equally enjoyable sipped neat or mixed with soda in a highball.
Wolfburn "Year of the Tiger" (£72, 70cl/46%)
A limited edition bottling released to mark the Chinese year of the Tiger.
Douglas Laing Old Particular Ben Nevis 18 Year Old (£119, 70cl/48.4%)
A juicy, fruity, single cask expression of Ben Nevis from Glasgow bottlers Douglas Laing.
The Sipping Shed Blair Athol 11 Year Old (£60, 70cl/59.1%)
Bottled from a single refill sherry hogshead, this polished whisky has notes of apples, plums, prunes, and coconut.
Deerstalker Croftengea 11 Year Old (£66.50, 70cl/56.3%)
Peated malt distilled at Loch Lomond distillery and matured in an ex bourbon barrel.
Hutchison's Ginger Wine (£9, 70cl/13.5%)
An essential ingredient for making a Whisky Mac. You might think of this as something your grandparents drank, but don't knock it 'til you've tried it.

Orly Lumbreras 'MilaGritos Blanco' 2019 (£22, 75cl/13%)
A herbaceous, savoury, skin-contact white wine that has both the body and flavour profile to pair well with a traditional Burns supper.
Domaine Caizergues "Les Amoriers" 2015 (£17, 75cl/13.5%)
A full bodied traditional Southern French blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre.
Château de Villeneuve Saumur-Champigny 2019 (£16.90, 75cl/13.5%)
Bright, vibrant Cabernet Franc from the central Loire made in a fresh, juicy style.

Tynt Meadow (£3.50, 33cl/7.4%)
A rich, sweet Trappist ale from Mount Saint Bernard Abbey.
Dark Island (£18.20, 75cl/10%)
Full bodied bitter Orcadian ale matured in ex whisky barrels.

BOBBY BURNS
We've come up with variations on the classic Bobby Burns recipe in previous years (we particularly liked the one involving a garnish of shortbread), but this time round we've tinkered with the ingredients and ratios to arrive at something that (we think!) works both with the light fresh malt of Speyburn and the rich, sweet, barrel aged Little Brown Dog gin. And of course, we're calling the gin based version the Jean Armour.
They're very different drinks obviously. The Bobby Burns is fresh, light, and fruity, whereas the Jean Armour is rich and spicy. But both, in our opinion, delicious.
Bobby Burns / Jean Armour
45 ml Speyburn 10yo OR LBD projectQUERCUSACER
30ml sweet vermouth
15ml Benedictine D.O.M.
Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass with ice. Stir 30 times. Strain into a coupe. Serve with a toast to the Immortal Memory.

Little Brown Dog's experimental series continues with a version of their gin matured in a maple syrup barrel.
Speyburn (£28, 70cl/40%)
A light, easy-going single malt from Rothes in central Speyside.
