Thank you for being a list member! By now you know how much I appreciate being a part of this community. You also know how much I like sending you free resources and writing. It’s all in the spirit of bringing our creative and authentic selves to our education jobs.

Here's a little more about me and why I do this. Y'know, as proof I'm not a robot 🤖

How I Got Started

I started as a school psychologist in the early 2000s. After that, I got a job as a special education administrator. That was a big change! But it was a step to understanding where I fit in the education field.

A few years later, I got a job as an administrator at a county office of education. That’s where I am now.

Not too long ago I noticed something subtle inside of me. I wanted to spend time doing things I loved, like working with data and being creative. Before long, I started exploring outside of work: I took data science courses for fun. I started writing blog posts for fun. I wrote a book with some awesome co-authors.

My Aha Moment

Then it hit me: everything I need for the creative life and career I want is already here. I stopped asking “How do I find more data work?” Instead, I asked “How do I take a data-informed approach to my work?” And I stopped asking “How do I find more creative work?” Instead, I asked “How do I take a more creative approach to my work?”

So here we are. I spend my free time sharing stuff with educators like you. Data and creativity in education are my thing right now. What’s yours?

Ok, that's all I've got for now! If you've got time, send me a line. Thanks for reading and being a part of this.

Until the next email!

Ryan
