Massey Financial Services
Established: January 2004
Number of Employees: 3
Product/Service: Financial Planning/Investment Management
Website: www.masseyfs.com
Massey Financial Services is a financial planning and investment management firm headquartered in Edmond. While Massey Financial Services was founded in 2004, Founder and President Nick Massey, a Certified Financial Planner, celebrated his 45th year in the investment business on January 10, 2022.

Massey chose to locate the firm in Edmond because the growing and vibrant city is a perfect place for a financial planning business. Massey’s wife, Dr. Karen Mahlmeister, was also already well established in Edmond so the two built a home in the city in 2003. Massey has been and continues to be involved in the community, including serving as the Edmond Ward 4 City Councilman for nine and half years before retiring from public service in April 2021.

The Massey Financial Services team would like to continue to grow the business and serve more clients looking for their services. Succession planning is important for any business and the firm is actively bringing on additional financial advisors who could eventually take over the business. It is extremely important to the Massey Financial Services team that the business continue to grow and serve clients in the future, regardless of who is leading the company.

Massey Financial Services is an independent registered investment advisory firm operating in a fiduciary capacity with clients. The firm is not owned by any large brokerage firm or insurance company dictating what to sell. As such, the firm is free to offer whatever products or services are best for clients.

City of Edmond Opens Downtown RFQ

The City of Edmond is requesting qualifications from a design team to submit their qualifications to perform architectural, engineering, planning and design services related to the construction of the Centralized Administration Building and Parking Garage in Downtown Edmond. Edmond is experiencing rapid changes and significant new private capital investment in the core of the city. This project is the cornerstone to a redevelopment effort along the Littler Avenue Corridor from 2nd Street north to Hurd. By consolidating city offices into one building, property vacated by the City would then be part of a separate solicited private sector redevelopment proposal process for mixed use development along this corridor. Before any of that can occur, the Centralized Administration Building and Parking Garage needs to be constructed as the first step in the development process.

Edmond Residents Could See Reduced Insurance Rates

Edmond residents may be able to save additional money on their flood insurance after the City of Edmond recently improved its rating through the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) program for floodplain management.

Edmond’s rating improved one level in FEMA’s Community Rating System (CRS), which is a voluntary incentive program that recognizes and encourages community floodplain management practices that exceed the minimum requirements of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).

The result of a lengthy re-verification process – and the diligent efforts of the Edmond Drainage Utility – the City rating improved to a 6, which enables residents to receive a 20 percent discount for NFIP-backed homeowner’s flood insurance if a structure is within a Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA), and a 10 percent discount for structures located outside the SFHA – a 5 percent increase on both discounts.
