Supporting Tonga in Honor of Father Sosaia

Our prayers and thoughts this week are with St. Paul's Tongan congregation and all those living on the Tongan Islands as well as the hundreds of Tongans living on the Peninsula. The volcano in Tonga last weekend was devastating in both its destruction and how it affected so many physically and emotionally. both here and in Tonga. And, here at St. Paul's, the news about the volcano came on the same day as the funeral service for The Reverend Sosaia Fineanganofo, known affectionately as "Father Sosaia," who spent many years in his native Tonga.

We would like to honor the memory of Father Sosaia and the Tongan members of St. Paul's--the Sa Paula congregation, many of whom have relatives and friends in Tonga by establishing the Tongan Relief Fund.   Sosaia's family and Fusi Pahulu, the Tongan congregation's representative on the Vestry, are both in support of this idea and will help decide where best to direct the funds raised to Tonga as the needs are so many and still being assessed.

If you'd like to make a donation to the Tongan Relief Fund, please send a check to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 415 El Camino Real, Burlingame, CA 94010 with a notation on the check "for Tongan Relief Fund" OR use this link to make an online donation, and click on the colored button that says "Donate."
