Dinner at at Elda starts with a Forest Tea made with white pine, balsam fir and wintergreen. Those scents and flavors reappear throughout the meal, a reminder of a lush and lovely Maine forest. Elda is by reservation only, and they close for a winter break February 15.

It's a very Gawler family winter celebration at Mayo Street Arts next week. On Jan. 28, Elise Gawler performs solo, then on Jan. 29, there is a workshop with the Gawler Family Band from 12:30 to 3 p.m. (all levels, BYO instrument). The family performs later that evening at 7 p.m. and then on Jan. 30, there's Molly Gawler's Droplet Dance at 2:30 p.m., when Molly performs a collection of solo dance works to Gawler Family Band music.
