Hi Parents,

With the school academic year revised to March, we need to get our bearings on school dates and holidays. Let's start by looking at the Chinese New Year holidays. Chinese New Year is on 1st and 2nd February this year.

For schools which observe Friday and Saturday as weekend,
Chinese New Year holidays is from 28 Jan - 2 Feb 2022. After that, students go back to school until 24 Feb before they break for the final academic year 2021/2022 holidays from 25 Feb 2022 until 20 March 2022. The new academic year begins on 21 March 2022.

For schools which observe Saturday and Sunday as weekend,
Chinese New Year holidays is from 29 Jan - 3 Feb 2022. After that, students go back to school until 25 Feb before they break for the final academic year 2021/2022 holidays from 26 Feb 2022 until 20 March 2022. The new academic year begins on 21 March 2022.

For those who are sitting for SPM, oral and practical exams are in February while written exams are in March 2022 so the above would not apply to them.

Other than school days and holidays, all eyes and ears are on the vaccination of young children. The Covid-19 vaccination programme for children aged five to 12 will be rolled out on February 3, with bookings for appointments starting on January 31, Soft launch will be on Feb 3, while mass public roll-out will start on Feb 22. The vaccination programme is not mandatory.

This year more families will be on the road during Chinese New Year as reunion dinners, temple visits and visiting is allowed subject to SOPs by the National Recovery National Security Council (NSC). To those travelling, we wish you a safe journey and happy holidays.
