SGA Valentine Grams
In recognition of the upcoming Valentine's Day holiday, SGA is selling Valentine Grams! A Valentine Gram is an opportunity to send notes and gifts to express your care and appreciation to the staff and students of KIA.
Orders will be accepted from 10 January until the 25 January.
Each Valentine Gram order includes a card for the buyer to write a short note and your choice of the following gifts. (You may purchase multiple gifts to be included with each card.)

- Candy bag 8 RMB
- Plush Teddy Bear (20 cm) 15 RMB
SGA will be selling Valentine Grams at the gate after school starting 12 January and Valentine Grams will be delivered on 14 February (Valentine's Day).

Dear Parents of K5-2nd grade Students,
尊敬的K5 -2年级学生家长：
It is the time of year again to test our students using the MAP (Measure of Academic Progress). This test occurs in the Fall, Winter, and then Spring. The purpose of the MAP Winter Assessment is to check to see if students are progressing in their learning throughout the year and celebrate student growth in each of the core Math, Reading, and Language Arts subjects. In the chart below, I have listed the target score for each subject and grade level. The goal is for students to score the same or higher than each of their grade level targets.
又到了一年中使用MAP（学业进展测评）来测试学生的时候了。这项测试通常在秋冬，及次年春季进行。MAP冬季测评的目的是检查学生是否在全年的学习中取得进步，并肯定学生在各门核心课程：数学、阅读和语言艺术科目中的进步。在下列表格中，我列出了每个科目所对应的年级和目标分数。目的是让学生的分数达到或高于他们每个年级的目标。

Come, Come, Come to the Temple Fair!
The epidemic has changed our lives for the past two years, and it has also caused our school's traditional annual Spring Festival temple fair to be absent for two years. Now it's finally here! January 31st, 2022, is the time to welcome the Chinese New Year's Eve. The Spring Festival symbolizes the departure of winter and the arrival of spring. It also means getting rid of the old and welcoming the new. For this most important and most traditional festival in China, please join our Chinese Department in celebrating this year's Chinese New Year. We have prepared a variety of activities for all the students. On Thursday, January 27th, the Chinese Temple Fair will begin at 9:00 A.M. in the courtyard. We are preparing ShaoKao, ErKuai, Dumplings, and Fried Potato and drinks. Folk artisans will bring Chinese folk activities such as sugar painting, sugar figure blowing, dough modeling, cotton candy, sugar-coated haws, paper cutting, and iron wire weaving for the students.
Parents, please be aware of this date. Students may dress in traditional Chinese clothing and bring cash for food and activities at this wonderful time. Due to the prevention and control of the epidemic, unfortunately, parents will not be able to enter the school to celebrate with us. 来，来，来，赶庙会啦！
新冠疫情改变了我们过去两年的生活，也让我们学校一年一度传统春节庙会缺席了两年。现在它终于来了！一月三十一日就将迎来我们中国人一年一度的除夕之夜， 春节代表着冬去春来，辞旧迎新。在这个中国最重要最传统的节日里，请跟着我们中文部一起来庆祝春节吧。我们给孩子们准备丰富的活动，最热闹，最受孩子们欢迎的赶庙会也会在一月二十七日星期四隆重登场。活动从早上9:00开始，地点在学校操场。我们准备了烧烤，饵块，饺子，炸土豆等等的传统美食。民间艺人们还会为孩子们带来糖画，吹糖人，面塑，冰糖葫芦，棉花糖，剪影，铝编和草编各种我们中国的民俗活动。
请家长们记住一月二十七日这个日子，给孩子们穿上中国传统服装，准备点现金带来学校，让孩子们赶一场年味十足的庙会。由于疫情防控，很遗憾家长们就不能进校和我们一起庆祝了。最后，我们恭祝各位家长新春快乐，阖家幸福！如果有任何疑问，请您联系中文部蔡老师，电子邮件：jenny.cai@kia-china.org。
