 PTO UPDATE FOR JANUARY
PTO UPDATE FOR JANUARY 2022
There is a lot here, we know, but that’s because there is a lot going on between
now and the end of the school year!
(Calendar of events included)

PTO Meetings:
The PTO Board decided that it would be most beneficial to send out a letter with a full breakdown of upcoming events, dates, and general happenings for our parent/ teacher community.  There will not be a PTO Zoom Meeting for the month of January. The PTO meetings will be held on the following dates at 6:00pm by Zoom.  If we are able at some point to safely go back to in person meetings, we will update changes in The Buzz. Meetings will be held on February 9th, March 9th, April 13th, and May 4th (Voting and closing the year).

Important February PTO Meeting will include a “State of the School” Presentation:February 9th
Be sure to attend this meeting as it is more than our normal PTO meeting. We will cover all information pertaining to our Used Uniform Sale, Valentines Grams, Ultra Fun Run, Food Drive and Restaurant fundraisers; however, this meeting will also feature a State of the School presentation, with some of our fabulous teachers speaking.

You will have the opportunity to listen to reports from our administration, Mrs. Tammi Stradiotto on Elementary school development, Mrs. Lilit Vartanian on the Middle School development, and updates on our spring musical and the National Junior Honors Society! You do not want to miss it!

Event Communication:
Please read through The Buzz every Friday!  It is the main hub for all school and PTO communication.  If you are not sure about when an event is or need information on an event, please check the buzz first. When information is more class specific, we will ask room parents to help communicate that information with you. One example is the upcoming class baskets for our school Spring Auction. If you are not receiving the buzz via email sign up here: https://www.laurelhall.org/the-buzz-registration

Service hours:  Families can continue to volunteer for events and receive service hours until 5th Grade Culmination on June 8th. All uncompleted hours will be billed at $25 per hour on your summer statement. Please check your current hours on our Signup.com site.  The link is below.  We would much prefer your help, time, and the opportunity to work together with you on an event.  However, we do understand that some families just prefer to donate the funds due to time constraints.

Auction:  May 7th
Our Spring auction will be at the Hornet Social on May 7th.  Class basket information will be coming to you very soon through your room parents.

If you have a business, vacation rental property, work for a studio, etc and would love to donate to the School Auction please reach out to the auction team @ leslie.crosby@initiative.com or msrbush@aol.com

Our auction team also needs help with mailings! This can be done from your home, and all the letters, envelopes, stamps, and a list of businesses will be supplied. And you’ll earn service hours!

Teacher Appreciation: May 2-6th
This will be the week to show your love for all the tremendous work our teachers, staff and administration do to help your children learn, stay safe and thankfully be together on campus. Our school has truly gone above and beyond for our kids and families.

Hornet Social: May 7th
We would normally do a fancy gala, but given the needs of our families, and the unknown of Covid, we are planning a more casual, fun party for our Laurel Hall community. It will be a fabulous BIG party with an opportunity to talk to your teachers, enjoy fabulous food, bid on auction items, and relax with your kids with the movie shown outdoors after the social event. There will be something fun for all ages! This event will follow teacher appreciation week, giving our community one more opportunity to celebrate a successful year for all.

Room Parents:
We will be checking in with you soon to make sure everything is going well.  If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your room parent coordinators right away.

Just a quick reminder as we begin to head towards the end of the year.
Culmination:  The 5th grade room parents will work with their teachers and administration to plan out the event. The 4th grade parents, not just room parents, should be helping the 5th grade with set up and clean up on the day of 5th grade culmination, June 8th.  It is a pay it forward situation so that the 5th grade families can enjoy their child’s completion of Elementary school.

Graduation: The 8th grade room parents will work ahead of time with the administration and teachers in planning and supporting the graduation event. The 7th grade parents should be helping the 8th grade parents with set up and clean up for the 8th grade graduation.  Again, this is an event where our community pays it forward, and a Laurel Hall tradition, which allowsthe 8th grade parents to enjoy their children’s big graduation day.

Future PTO Planning:

2022-2023 Slate:  We will begin asking for members of the community to volunteer for next year’s events.  If you have enjoyed working on an event or see one that you would really like to chair or participate in, please reach out to us. This planning begins with a blank slate, with all positions included.  We know that there are a lot of fabulous, talented parents in our community who can bring their talents and dedication and help make our community events even better on every level. The PTO, and everyone at Laurel Hall, will be so much better for your efforts.

Hello Hornet Parents! We are happy to say, it’s that time of year again for the Used Uniform Sale!!!! We always have a variety of gently worn uniform pieces (it will be mostly bottoms due to the new emblem, but we are hopeful for some shirts) and misc. pieces to help get you freshened up for the rest of the year!

Each pair of shorts, pants, or skirts will be $4, jerseys are $5 and items that are brand new with tags are $7!!! For even more savings, bring us your own gently used shirts, khaki pants, shorts and skirts to get $1 off your purchase for every piece you turn in. To pay EVEN LESS, sign up to help at the Sale and get $2 off per piece, PLUS your service hours! There are also service hours available via food donations, so please check that list out as well!!!

If you have Middle Schoolers looking for service hours, we can use them, too! We can take three (3) 6th graders from 9am-10am, and three (3) 7th/8th graders 11am-1pm. Please note that you MUST contact us ahead of time to secure these spots for your Middle Schoolers and you cannot sign them up through the same sign up as for yourself – Service Hours credit will only be given to the students on the list we give Ms. Jones.

We will be having the sale outside again and ask that everyone follow current Covid protocols for the safety of all.

Any questions? Email Kelli Bethel (kellitb66@gmail.com) or Romina Karbalai (roro12nty@aol.com), Used Uniform Sale Co-Chairs.
