Fifth Edition of our Course on Contemporary China has kicked off in Pisa!
The course “China Issues”, addressed to the students of Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies, has kicked off in Pisa and it will last until the beginning of June. The first lecture was held today by Professor Alessandra Lavagnino, Director of the Confucius Institute of the University of Milan and one of the most appreciated and renowned Italian sinologists. Her lecture was titled “Which China? From the Cultural Revolution to the challenges of the future ".

Policy Interpretation: China’s 14th Five-Year Plan for promoting SME development
In December 2021, China has unveiled its 14th Five-Year Plan (FYP) for Promoting the Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). According to the document, SMEs are set to witness steady improvement in their overall development quality, innovation capability, specialization level as well as the operation and management levels by 2025. Major targets mapped out by the plan include: increasing the per-capita operating income of SMEs by over 18%, increasing the annual R&D expenditure of small industrial enterprises by over 10%, and achieving an average annual growth rate of over 10% in the number of patent applications by the end of 2025. Thoughts on Decarbonization Roadmap inspired from building industry & Afternoon Teatime with Century Cruises
Subsequent to global climate change and more frequent natural disaster, the world drives much focus on the destroy to our earth created with carbon emission. China has set our target in 14th Five-Year Plan to achieve carbon peak by 2030 and carbon neutral by 2060. Industries like energy, manufacturing and building construction will become the key pioneers to push this target on the society. Building industry, which shares roughly 40% of total carbon emission amount in China, has great responsibility on this target. Various carbon reduction technology, carbon trading and circular economy have been well developed in past few years. "A Kaleidoscope of Civilizations: Antiquities from Ancient Syria" Exhibition
The exhibits in this exhibition come from 12 domestic and foreign cultural and museum units, including the National Museum in Damascus, Aleppo Museum, Deir ez-Zor Museum, Japol Museum, Latakia Museum, Homs Museum, Tartus Museum, Daraa Museum, Sveda Museum, as well as the Dunhuang Research Institute, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Museum and Xi'an Bilin Museum in China. The exhibits include 183 pieces (sets) of gold and silver, bronze, pottery and stone tools, telling the picture of Syria's 500,000-year-long culture. It is worth mentioning that, in addition to the long period span and particularly rich variety, the exhibits in this exhibition have many similarities with ancient Shu civilization. More info
