We are starting a new all-school tradition at OHA to celebrate Kindness Day on Feb. 14th. Students may bring in friendship notes, valentines, or small packaged treats to share with their class family and to model kindness. We have notes available for students to complete at home or during WIN time at school. Each student will decorate bags in school to hold the notes and cards. We are asking families NOT to send in valentine boxes with their student(s). We will have fun ways to show and celebrate our friendship with everyone in the OHA family and to spread kindness! We are also asking students and staff to wear clothes that have kindness messages on them as well.
Some activities planned include:
All School Zephyr Time Celebrating kids Caught being Kind
Kindness Stations during lunch.
Homerooms will be doing other acts of kindness as well
We are excited to begin this inclusive new tradition at OHA!
Thank you,
OHA Culture and Equity Teams

The Worried Brain: Moving Forward in Challenging Times
When: February 1, 2022, at 5pm
After nearly two years of navigating high levels of uncertainty and disrupted routines, kids and parents alike have spent a lot of time managing worry. For many families, familiar routines have picked back up again and life feels decidedly more “normal.” As we navigate this next phase, many families are grappling with a new set of worries including how to ensure that our kids and schools are “back on track.” Erin Walsh will take you on a tour of the worried brain and help you understand that how we identify worries and respond to them can either help us move forward or undermine our kids’ resilience when they need it most. Hardwired to Connect: Why Connection UnleashesLearning and Growth When: February 15, 2022, at 6:30pm
Too often we think of resilience as an individual trait that we either have or don’t have. Or we frame it as something that we can just dig for and conjure up when needed. The research, however, paints a very different picture. As the Harvard Center on the Developing Child reminds us, “Resilience requires relationships, not rugged individualism.” We human beings – kids and adults alike – are hardwired to connect. Connection creates a protective buffer around us for life’s hardest moments and gives us the safety and security we need to take academic risks, learn, and grow. Learn why connection matters, what does (and doesn’t) get in the way of connection, and how to create the kind of connected communities kids need to thrive. Click here to register.
Ashland Theaters Present "We are Monsters"
Join students from Wildwood and OH Anderson in partnership with Ashland Theater as they perform We Are Monsters.
Great for the entire family! The shows are Saturday, February 12 at 4 pm and Sunday, February 13 at 1 pm.
We Are Monsters is a hilarious new musical that follows human kids into a monster cabaret filled with quirky monster characters. The adventurous humans uncover vegetarian vampires and rock n' roll werewolves, gradually realizing there may be more to these monsters than meets the eye! Most importantly these monsters and kids discover the importance of friendship and celebrating the attributes that make each of us different and unique.
