Proposed Climate-Related Bylaws
West Tisbury has a number of climate-related bylaws that may appear on the Annual Town Meeting warrant. The groups that have been working on these efforts would love you to join discussions that are taking place this week. The more feedback and support at these meetings, the more likely these initiatives will appear on the warrant and incorporate a broad community perspective.

HOUSE SIZE LIMITS

Tuesday January 25 at 5:30 pm       Thursday January 27 at 5:30 pm
A Planning Board subcommittee has been working for the last few years on a bylaw that would set limits on house size, similar to what Chilmark put in place for their town in 2013. Larger houses require more resources to build, often more energy to maintain, require more trucking, excavation and site disturbance, all of which have climate impacts.
Please attend one of their public forums this week before the draft is finalized so they can consider your thoughts before the warrant deadline.
For a copy of the proposed bylaw please contact Jane Rossi at the Planning Board office 508-696-0149

100% ELECTRIC FOR NEW CONSTRUCTION & MAJOR RENOVATION,
EV charging set up and
fossil-fuel free pool heating

Monday, January 24, 5:30 Planning Board
Wednesday, January 26, 4:30 Select Board

The Energy Committee is hoping the Town will consider multiple Zoning Bylaw changes to help us on our path to 100% renewable by 2040. Please join the discussions below to learn more.  The 100% Electric and EV charging bylaws were drafted by the Aquinnah EC and would then be sent to the State Legislature as Home Rule petitions, joining a number of other MA towns and cities that have done so.
