Hello Comrades, happy new year! Read on for info about our meeting next week, chapter leadership nominations, and an action you can take to help the United Graduate Workers of UNM.

Thanks to everyone who turned out to our last chapter meeting. We began the nomination process for chapter leadership at that meeting(see the next section for more on that!) and discussed where the chapter is at and what we can do to get more people involved. We'd like to continue those discussions, and introduce the comrades who have already been nominated to the chapter, at our upcoming meeting this Sunday. We hope you can attend!

Nominations for Chapter Leadership

We will be electing new leadership for our chapter in February. We have positions open for two chapter co-chairs, secretary, treasurer, and four at-large organizers. if you're interested in nominating someone, including yourself, please email santafedsa@gmail.com to discuss the process.

UNM Graduate Workers have a certified union!

The United Graduate Workers of UNM have finally been recognized by the New Mexico Public Employee Labor Relations Board. Now they're demanding the University commit to bargaining with them, but the University hasn't committed to a date yet. The Union asks us for the following solidarity action:
We are now inviting our supporters across New Mexico (and across the world) to add their voices to graduate workers' formal demand for a start to collective bargaining.

Please take a moment today to send a letter to the UNM adminstration calling for urgent, good faith, negotiations.
