January 2022

Hello <<First Name>>,

Your support continues to drive The Aortic Dissection Charitable Trust forward and will change the future landscape for AD patients in the UK & Ireland.

We are looking forward to all the opportunities presented in the year ahead - delivering and extending our plans that will drive change and improve outcomes for patients and their families impacted by AD.

We have a great deal of work in the pipeline for 2022, with exciting announcements about some first-of-their-kind projects that will impact our charitable aims and objectives.

Together we will make a difference and drive the much-needed change.

This is what we have been doing….

Acute AD Toolkit from NHS England

We had a tremendous amount of constructive and positive feedback on the acute AD toolkit developed by NHS England and NHS Improvement (NHSEI) in partnership with TADCT.

NHS England has been astonished by the response of the charity’s supporters stating that this has been one of their most successful patient and public involvements. The toolkit, designed for the medical community, will be available later this year. This initiative will significantly improve the pathway for patients with acute aortic dissection and save lives once it is implemented by every region.

There will be more to update you on as this important initiative progresses. Thank you for your input and feedback so far.

Fundraising

Thank you to everyone who has been getting involved with fundraising recently.

Clevedon and District Freshwater Angling Club hosted the Lance Tucker Memorial Match on the River Kenn from the Outfall to Kenn Road. Lance was a well-known and popular angling character across the West Country who tragically passed away at work from an AD in December 2020. 55 anglers who knew Lance took part in the competition.

Summit Media honour Ben Latham, who sadly passed away from an undiagnosed aortic dissection by introducing an award in his memory at their annual Summit Oscars to celebrate qualities and behaviours that Ben actively promoted at the company.

Christmas has been a significant time for many of us, as we remember those who have lost their lives as well as celebrating the lives saved.

So many individual donations were made during December in the name of AD and contributing directly to drive our work forward, and we thank you for your donations especially at this time.

One of TADCT proudest moments in December was the turning on of the Christmas lights at Barrowash, Derbyshire which was dedicated to Sharon Sewell who has been left paralysed following major complications during her AD.

The Belvedere Plodders continue to champion our message. They have runners in training for places at the London Landmarks half marathon, but in the meantime organised a curry restaurant takeover in aid of the cause, some early carb loading!
